With four weeks to go before Comic Relief’s Big Crafternoon, I have been busy.
Busy making up samples of some of the things that will be available to make on the day, all of which feature in the Mollie Makes Red Nose Day special magazine, and I thought that people would probably like to see and feel examples of what the finished articles are like.
I’m planning on having a dedicated crafting table for each of the items that can be made, so that all the materials for each project are to hand and won’t get mixed up with materials needed for any of the other crafts.
Each area will have a copy of the magazine open at the relevant pages, a selection of fabrics/yarn from which to choose, together with all the sundry items required to complete their chosen item.
I’ve manged to source most of the sundry bits and pieces that will be needed, but NOT round lolly sticks – so I’ve substituted with a straw instead which works perfectly well!
Don’t forget to come along if you can!

Love your little makes – especially the little chick – yours is so much less scary than the ones in the magazine (they look like they are poised to attack on mass LOL!) I’m sure you’ll all have a great day! 🙂

Nothing really looks scary in pink though, does it? Can you imagine Margaret Thatcher wearing pink?!!

Ooo you’ve been busy and I’m rubbish…I’ve not been to the post office yet. How about some of them sticks they have in coffee shops and McDonalds to stir coffee…..would they be any good instead of straws?
I’ve got some embroidery thread I can send, I was going to send some wool and some cotton fabric…..would that be ok….sorry again….✂️😃✂️

Whatever little bits you can spare would be amazing, thank you! You can see the size of the projects, so only tiny bits of any one thing are required, but it would be great to be able to offer a variety of materials for each craft.

Oh those birds are gorgeous. I wish I could come play for a crafternoon. I might have to have a go at making a bird at home myself and posting a photo.

You’re only down the road as well but unfortunately I work in Cardiff on a Thursday. Do you still need craft supplies? I’m having a sort through my craft things today so could send some things. .. What do you need?

That’s so generous of you! I don’t suppose you have any felt? I’ve bought a few squares but I have a feeling the chicks are going to be very popular:)

Thank you so much:) I just think it will be nice for the crafters to see the finished items before they choose which ones they want to have a go at. There’s nothing quite like seeing it ‘in the flesh’, is there?

Thanks Daisy! Although, not entirely selfless – what’s better than a whole afternoon spent creating things with friends? Not to mention the tea/wine and cakes:)

Oh I wanna go!! The whole crafternoon sounds like so much fun. I adore the felt chickadees. They are so precious. I so love the fact that the funds collected are going to help needy children. What is better than that? Moving along on my greengate afghan while working on a ton of other projects. Truthfully I am never bored. 🙂 Lots of hookery love to you and the family.

Oh I so hope it is a success but, when you host an event, you always get nervous that nobody’s going to show up, don’t you? From all the comments I think the chicks are going to be the most popular make so I’m going to have to make sure I’ve got plenty of felt! I’m glad the Greengate hasn’t defeated you:)

When I got married I was terrified that no one would show up. LOL So I definately know where you are coming from. I would double the chicks table. That are definately precious. Not many things defeat me. I usually just set whatever I am frustrated with aside for a bit and come back to in when I am in a better light. Good luck on the crafternoon. 🙂

Thank you Liz – it’s better than asking for sponsorship I think. People are getting something for their money and having fun at the same time.
