Well, here we are again, another Sunday, another Sunday Sevens as thought up by Nat over at Threads & Bobbins – seven photos summing up your week. Click on the link to find out how you can join in.
- Craft night at a friend’s house. Alcohol, finger food and yarn – what could possibly go wrong?
2. The bucket of sloe gin is already smelling divine and we’ve got to wait until Christmas before we can drink it!
3. Elderberry jelly is a first for me and it’s absolutely delicious. The jars look very sad without a pretty little fabric hat though, so I must get around to doing that.
4. Managed to get tickets to Dismaland which, for those of you who have been living in a cave shut off from the outside world for the last couple of months, is Banksy’s masterpiece on the seafront in Weston.
5. This was one of the crazy installations – a crashed car with a cross-stitched bonnet.
6. Seriously – REAL cross stitch!!
7. French windows are in and work is under way on the sun room at last. Is it me, or do builders seem to be getting younger?
8. I’m sneaking in an eighth picture to show you the Welly Family picture I made for the friend who came with me to The Handmade Fair (see this post). She loved the ones that Katie Essam makes, so I tailored one to fit her family in the muted hydrangea colours that she loves so much.
If you’re reading this, Velvet Cow, act surprised when I give it to you in the playground tomorrow:)
Until next week – “That’s All Folks!”

Love the wellies–how cute is that! So jealous that you went to Dismaland and, now that I see the sign for the first time, I’m a little surprised that Disney hasn’t issued a “cease and desist” over the use of the font!

We were lucky to get tickets but still had to queue for an hour, even with a time slot allocated. Was well worth it though. Font copyright hadn’t occurred to me although it would be typical of today’s society to sue over something so petty – I hope they don’t. Thanks for your kind feedback on the wellies!

Disney is famously litigious–they’ve gone after daycare centers for having Mickey Mouse painted on the side of the building. The combination of the font and the similarity of the name . . . I’d be surprised if they let it go.

Isn’t he just – he wanted to ‘help’ daddy and came down dressed like this! I loved doing the wellies and wNt to come up with my own designs for my Folksy shop:)

My goodness I am getting so old – honestly, I would swear your builder should still be in junior school! I have never heard of Banksy or Dismaland but seriously admire the cross stitch on the car – so kudos to him whoever he is 🙂 I suspect the litigation lawyers are already on the case over font and name too. Maybe your Banksy is hoping for the publicity factor……………. 🙂

Banksy is an anarchist street artist – nobody knows who he is or what he looks like and he’s very political, poking fun at The System. He comes from Bristol which is my nearest big city so he’s quite special to us. He’s massive worldwide, especially if you are interested in art in any way and doesn’t need the publicity – Dismaland popped up overnight after months of secret planning. No advertising whatsoever, only open for one month and completely sold out as soon as tickets were made available! We were some of the lucky few:)

LOL !! I hope you and your builder agreed a price before work commenced..??.. ‘cos, if he’s on day rate it could cost you dearly – he really looks the part though, and, I bet you are super excited about the new sun room, and the lamp shades!! 😀
The Dismaland and the Banksy exhibit look amazing and worth the wait, as will be the sloe gin and the preserves!!
I’m sure your friend will be thrilled with her Wellie art too 🙂

Aw, No.3 Son was so sweet coming down with his hard hat and old clothes on so he could ‘help’. They just want to be like daddy at this age, don’t they? The sun room will be done as money and time allows as hubby is doing the rest himself. Apart from the lampshades of course:)

I think it is wonderful when they want to follow by example 🙂 Your son certainly looks the part in his ‘work gear’! Keep on buying those lottery tickets….who knows??..with lots of luck your room might be finished a lot sooner than you think ;-D!!

Another interesting roundup, the builder pic made me laugh. I think Banksy might be being deliberately provocative if Disney did sue the exhibition would be under the spotlight, he’s definitely poking the tiger.
Your wellie pic is sweet, I did a little bunting accent recently, it took a lot of faffing, lol.

It wouldn’t be Banksy without controversy, would it? Not that he needs the publicity, but he would embrace the fight and highlight the ridiculous compensation culture no doubt. I love free machine embroidery and this picture was such fun to do that I may come up with my own designs for my Folksy shop – if I can find time!

The bonnet took me by surprise, I must admit. How does one come up with an idea like that? I was pleased with the welly picture and can’t wait to book a course with Katie to learn how to add paint to the mix as well.

oooooohhh I am super jealous of your Dismaland visit! I have followed Banksy for years and almost cried when I found this was open when I’m not in the country! Did you enjoy it? A sun room sounds fantastic – can’t wait to see updates 🙂 Do you keep your jam for yourself or gift it? Homemade jam reminds me of Christmas presents from certain Aunts!

Dismaland was a Banksy triumph – the artists he collaborated with were the perfect match to his work and it was as provocative as you would expect. The installation of a dead Cinderella in her upturned glass coach surrounded by paparazzi with cameras flashing was a shocking portrayal of Princess Diana’s death, but brilliant at the same time. I might do a post on it, but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea! The jam is for us but I’ll probably make more as gifts.

I’ve seen a few of the installations online and wondered what reaction they would get! Very jealous that you got to see it 😀

I wasn’t counting but it’s a great extra picture, love it.!! The sunroom sounds great and I’m sure the builders appreciate a little free labour 🙂 I love the car with the cross stitch and your jam is making my mouth water!

The cross stitched car was just so clever and certainly not what I expected to see. Hopefully the sun room will be done in time to actually see some sun this year……

My first visit to your Sevens…loved it (the Wellies are sweet, but not quite as sweet as your young worker). Also rambled around the rest of your site and loved it, too! Your studio is absolutely amazing. Thanks for kindly explaining some of those cultural differences this morning on Natalie’s post. 😀

Katie was so nice that it would just be good to spend a whole day crafting to be honest, and to perfect some new techniques would be a bonus. Jam hats are done!
