A day late with my #sundaysevens this week due to a full-to-bursting weekend that ended at 11pm last night!
Hop over to Nat at Threads & Bobbins to find out how you can join in with seven photos of your own providing a little glimpse into the person behind the blog – a great way to keep blogging even when you haven’t got enough to make a full blog post.
1. I made a jar of lemon curd and some shortbread to take to an aunt who had invited us for supper, as well as a couple of bottles of wine, of course.
2. Although we haven’t switched on the central heating yet, the fire has been blazing away this week since the weather changed. Who doesn’t love an open fire?
3. A two and a half hour sewing camp with two little girls went extremely well considering this was their first time using a sewing machine.
4. After practicing on paper first, they soon moved onto fabric.
5. Two very happy girls, both rightly proud of the beautiful cushion covers they completed!
6. This is the pattern that I’ve chosen for the work’s ‘do’ that Mr H-L’s company puts on every Christmas. Turquoise taffeta maybe….
7. My first cuddle with baby Lilah, our first grandchild!
….and a couple of extra photos just because she’s so gorgeous!
8.
9.
10. Sunday night oysters and prosecco with good friends was the perfect end to a lovely week. Oops, forgot to take a photo before we ate them all…..
Don’t forget – the deadline to sign up to our Christmas Gift Swap is this Saturday, 31st October. Check out the #stitchingsanta blog post to find out more.

Ahh, I love a good open fire. We have a fireplace too. Cool sewing camp, it looks fun!
This weekend I went shopping. Typical. 😀

I can’t remember the last time I went shopping! I love cosying up by the fire on dark, Winter nights toasting marshmallows over the coals. What did you buy?

I know, I nearly commented on that very fact in the blog post! I don’t know when that smell goes, it just fades away gradually until they wake up one morning smelling of poo.

I have a feeling Lilah will feature on the blog almost as much as The Boys, although we won’t see her very often as it’s a three hour drive to Brighton. The lemon curd was luscious – I kept a small jar back for us:)

This has cheered me up on a dreary Monday afternoon! It’s so great to see little ones sewing and producing something they can be really proud of. Baby Lilah is just perfect isn’t she. Can’t wait to see THAT dress made up!

The girls were SO proud of their efforts, especially so as it was ALL their own work, mistakes and all. Wobbly lines of stitching are all part of the learning process aren’t they? The ball gown will be lovely although, being a size 14, it won’t look like that on me!

Isn’t she the sweetest thing? The girls seemed to really enjoy themselves and loved going home with a completed project to show off. I make a new ball gown every year and it’s lovely to immerse myself in something so complicated – I love it!

Yummy! Anything lemon is my favorite. Your new grandbaby is precious. She is so alert. Newborn babies are so soft and smell so sweet. Congrats again on the new addition. The new pattern is beautiful and sexy! What will make all the difference is the color. I can’t wait to see when you give the big tadah moment on that one!! The little girls look so proud of their cushions. Great job on your class so far.

I love lemony things too as they’re usually not too sweet and the curd was delicious. Lilah is just perfect, just like a doll and I can’t wait ’til we see her again, hopefully in the New Year. The dress will be blogged about in due course – I think everyone’s excited to see this one!

Great cushions from your students. Aw! Lilah is so teeny and gorgeous 🙂 And that’s what I call a fabulous dress! Looking forward to the post revealing that.

The girls were so pleased with their cushions which they did all by themselves – I resisted the urge to make them re-do any wonky lines as its all part of the learning process to see how quickly their skills improve. I hope I can do the dress pattern justice now that so many people have expressed an interest!

What a beautiful pic of grandbaby and proud grandparents! It’s hard to believe you are a grandmother Sheila – and that dress pattern proves it! I shall look forward to seeing you in that, it’s kind of like my dream dress would once have been 🙂 The sewing lessons for children is a brilliant thing to offer the community and I hope many take up the offer. It would be so nice to see kids becoming confident in all handcraft and sewing skills again!
Love lemon curd – I wonder if I can find enough lemons to make some ………

Aw, you’re too kind, but thanks! I make a new ball gown every year – well, one can’t turn up in the same old thing twice, can one?! I have a wardrobe dedicated to once-worn ball gowns that I can’t bear to part with after all the blood, sweat and tears that went into them. My sewing school opens after half term officially, and I think I have five kids so far, which I’m delighted with so early on.

You look like you have a couple of professional seamstresses in the making and their cushions are fab! I’m sure your Aunt will enjoy the wine and even more so the home made goodies 😉

I temper the busy bits with lots of sitting down ‘making’ which gives the illusion of being so busy – I can’t sit down and do nothing, I have to have something to keep my hands occupied or it feels like wasted time. I love the dress pattern but have considerably more curves to accommodate than the model, so I hope everyone isn’t disappointed when they see it on me! I love teaching sewing, its just so satisfying, especially when little ones are clearly very proud of their efforts:)

I’m exactly the same when it comes to sitting and doing! Goodness only knows where these extra curves come from after you hit forty, though we’re not alone I’m sure?! I have no doubt your dress will look wonderful 🙂
I bet once word gets around in the playground about your sewing classes, you might need extra machines drafting in LOL 😉

I’m serious – you should challenge yourself. You’re more than capable judging by what we’ve seen. I was thinking more about how you probably rarely get chance to get out to a proper ‘do’ with young children at home – the company pays for everyone to stay in the hotel overnight so we jump at the chance:)

Hmm maybe it should be a goal for 2016. Thanks for the compliment! Yeah I wouldn’t have anywhere to wear it to! I would jump at the chance too if they pay for everyone! Wow! 🙂

The lemon curd and shortbread look delicious and are perfect gifts – I bet they were much appreciated. Very jealous of your open fire, left my wood burner at my last house and gas fires are really not the same, not to mention far less aesthetically pleasing! She looks like a very sweet new baby – congratulations 🎀

A gas fire is still better than no fire at all – and at least you don’t have to clean it out and dust the whole house as a result of all the fine dust that deposits everywhere:)
