Sunday Sevens #65

The weeks seem to be getting even busier all of a sudden, if that’s even possible. Linking up with Nat at Threads & Bobbins for another #sundaysevens.

  1. This amazing Gingerbread House is available to order in our local Little Cake Shop for just £22.00! I’m going to order one in an effort to cut down on the things I have to make for Christmas.

2. The Boys wrote their letters to Father Christmas. No.2 Son put a note at the bottom that reads, “Send this to God/Jesus: Forgiveness, Love and that you will listen to me (I believe)”. How sweet?

3. Amber likes to come in and warm up in front of the fire. Roast chicken, anyone?

4. These earrings arrived – they’re going into the parcel for the sewing #stitchingsanta. Anyone fancy them?

5. Took Mr. H-L to Holbrook House for his (49th) birthday lunch – it was very Christmassy in the (very grand) entrance hall.

6. We started with a bottle of bubbly by the fire.

IMG_2753

7. We had a fabulous three course lunch in the restaurant…

7-ish. ….and finished off with cognac and coffee back by the fire in the Hall.

7-ish ish. We had cake and more bubbly with the kids in the evening.

7 etc.

7-plus-a-few. I made, from the left: bags of fudge, Medlar Jelly and Chilli Jam for the PTA stall at the school Christmas Fair yesterday. This photo was taken part way through the day, but they all sold!

IMG_0114

I’ve stopped counting now.

No.2 Son’s team won 12-0 at football – he scored 8 goals and won Man Of The Match!

It was our annual Christmas Supper in the Village Hall last night, organised by the Hall Committee of which I’m a member. We had a communal veg peeling session on Friday, but my personal home-cooked contributions were 130 Devils-on-horseback, bread sauce for 70, 12 Pots au Chocolat (laced with Bailey’s) and a marbled Baked Chocolate Cheesecake.

No.2 Son ate eleven sprouts.

No.3 Son went up FOUR times for pudding!!!

I’m having a pyjama day today and will continue making gifts all day in my dressing gown – I think I’ve earned it!

    • I didn’t price them, but that doesn’t surprise me – it probably cost me more to make them than they sold them for! Glad you like them though, I’ve not made either before:)

  3. Busy? I’ll say so! What with the PTA stall and the huge community Christmas dinner, plus birthday celebrations…did you manage to get any sleep?! Love the earrings – they’re cute! And well done to your Man of the match. We’re working on letters to Santa today 🙂

  7. Wow! What a busy but festive week. Birthday celebrations for your husband sound amazing! Especially the cake and bubbly – what more does a birthday need? It sounds like man of the match was fully deserved by your son! Eight goals is fantastic! All of your Christmas makes look and sound delicious, you do so well to make so much. Lastly, so sweet that your chicken makes a beeline for the fire 😊

    • It’s such good value that it’s not worth making my own – I’ll save time and support a local small business at the same time. I don’t have pierced ears otherwise those earrings would be mine;)

  11. My my, you have had another busy week! I am amazed at the gingerbread house and think that’s quite a bargain to say how detailed it is! I’ve never actually ventured into making one myself as my icing skills are left to be desired! Happy Birthday to Mr H-L! it looks like everyone enjoyed the celebrations 🙂 Those earrings are gorgeous!!!

    • I simply don’t have the time to make a gingerbread house like that – or the skill! It’s such a bargain that I’m happy to buy one and support a local baker. The earrings are so sweet, aren’t they?

  12. Boy did you have a busy week. The gingerbread house is so cute. I haven’t made one of those since I was a child. Yours is so pretty. Happy birthday to the hubby. You definately went to an excellent place for dinner. What a treat. The earrings are super cute. I am sure the reciever will enjoy them. Letters to Santa,.,. how sweet. Christmas Eve we follow Santa as he drops off the presents on the internet.

    • Thanks Robin, we’ve not followed Santa on the computer before, but maybe this year we’ll give it a go. Bertie is ten now, so probably won’t believe next year😭
I’m sending your gift today so look out for it, but don’t open it before Christmas Day!

  15. Earned your pj day? Yes, I’d say so! In fact your energy is contagious….just reading this post, I’m thinking of pj day, too. And haha I love the way you count. Sweet letters from the boys, Father Christmas will sure respond positively. Those scissor earrings are adorable! So enjoyed your week. 🙂

    • Thanks Jen, creative counting is getting to become a bit of a habit! This week is even busier believe it or not – perhaps I should ‘forget’ to photograph some of it to keep numbers down. Those scissor earrings were a lucky find, weren’t they? I’m certain Father Christmas has already got some perfectly suitable things for The Boys:)

  17. Belated Happy Birthday to Mr H-L. And huge congrats to son No2 on all those goals – bet he was proud of himself. Love the ginger bread house – fortunately Lovely Youngest makes ours on Christmas eve, so I don’t have that job.

    • Yes, I had to delegate the gingerbread house and pay for someone to do it – I can’t pretend I’m Superwoman and do it all! Can’t imagine what my daughter would say if I asked her to make one:)
