This week’s Sunday Sevens comes to you from Andalucia, Spain, where we are staying with my Auntie in her villa for two weeks. Was it really a year ago since I posted about this place?
1. At the foot of the mountains about forty minutes inland, the pool is a welcome feature and one they installed as soon as they moved in ten years ago. As Brits, it’s also the main source of enjoyment and the kids love it, spending all the time we’re at ‘home’ splashing around merrily.
2. A day trip to the coast at Mojacar where The Boys played on the beach for the morning.
3. We wandered the streets and ate lunch in a little restaurant in neighbouring Mojacar Pueblo.
4. A typical square in this pretty hilltop village. The Boys posed for all of ten seconds before running off to explore.
5. The views were amazing – this panorama shows how dry and desert-like Southern Spain is.
6. A meal with cocktails was part of a Flamenco evening at a local bar. Long term readers of the blog may recognise the dancer from last year.
7. The Boys went riding at Rancho Luz Del Sol in Partaloa again. This is where I broke my ribs last year when galloping through the mountains and falling off.
8. We played it safe and had tapas in the local bar while they were riding.
9. A family meal out at La Casita where No.3 Son’s dinner is bigger than his head!
10. Bombing in the pool never seems to get boring when you’re only eight and who needs trunks?
11. Another lunch, this time in El Rincon.
12. You’ll have to trust me when I say the paella was gorgeous, only I forgot to take a photo before it was all eaten.
13. The front garden is typically Spanish.
14. An old cortijo at the end of the road on our usual route to the bar needing a little t&c – the kind of property I’d love to have if we lived in Spain.
15. Back to the villa and No.1 Son’s girlfriend is asleep in the pool.
16. It’s a hammock in the shade for me, while I muster up the energy for a second week of more of the same. It’s a hard life!
Thanks to Nat at Threads & Bobbins for hosting Sunday Sevens.

Wow! Yes, it doesn’t seem like a year since you were posting last from your Auntie’s lovely retreat. Great to see you and all the family having a wonderful time. I can feel the heat coming off some of those photos.

We never get tired of it, it really is lovely. In the thirties now, but apparently it’s coming back with us this week so hopefully a good Summer will follow:)

Yes, they run around as nature intended all Summer long back home – no hang ups about bodies in our family! It really is lovely here, we’re so lucky to have family to stay with:)

I can just feel the heat , I do hope you manage to cope with all that relaxing! How are those red shorts? My youngest stripped off at the first opportunity too, so much easier for eating ice cream!!

The red shorts are currently on Mr H-L as we are having late drinks in the evening heat! They’re perfect for here. The Boys are always running around naked – and why not? They’ll get self conscious soon enough:)

What a fab first week!! There’s no hardship to time going so fast when you have this to look forward to each year! In such an arid location I can see why the pool is so inviting 😉 Hope your second week is just as enjoyable 🙂

I don’t know how people live in such heat without a pool, although I suppose you get used to it. When we got home it was ten degrees cooler but it felt hot and sticky because of the higher humidity here.

Looks like everybody is enjoying themselves enormously. One of my sisters lives down there at the moment but I haven’t been to see her yet – she hasn’t got a private pool for a start!. I hope you stay lucky with the weather – it’s scorchio here today but, being June, often ends up with a storm. By the looks of the landscape, you could do with a touch of rain there – although, let’s be selfish and hope it happens after you’ve left.

It’s the first time in nine years of coming here that we haven’t had a drop of rain! Thirty degrees and sunny currently – home at midnight tomorrow, boo:(
