1. I bought Mr H-L some festive pyjamas although he always swore he would never wear any. Here he is fast asleep ‘watching’ TV wearing his new PJs. This has been the scene every night since!
2. A crocheted Poinsettia brooch was whipped up in an evening and found its way into one of my Stitching Santa parcels.
3. The reason I straighten my hair – ’nuff said.
4. I went to Amsterdam for a couple of days with hubby on a business trip and had arranged to meet a blogging pal who lives there. Marianne, from marrose-ccc.com, was so lovely and we had a wonderful day going around the yarn shops in Amsterdam. More on that in a separate post.
5. Mr H-L turned 50 on Saturday, so we had a bit of a party at home with about twenty-five family and friends. This is a quick snap taken before everyone arrived as we forgot to take any photos later on!
6. The dog’s bed was put as close to the fire as possible but, even with her coat on, Fifi decided it wasn’t close enough and sat on the hearth instead!
7. The Boys are enjoying their advent calendar again this year. Here they are secretly putting Candy Canes on car windscreens for the kids in the village to wake up to. There are less than twenty children in our village, so we could leave an anonymous treat for all of them.
8. Another day, their task was to write a letter to Father Christmas, which they did on headed paper before sending it up the chimney. Can you guess where we’re taking them next week for a few days? It’s a surprise so they have will have no idea until we get on the ‘plane.
That’s it for this week, folks! If you want to see how Sunday Sevens works or maybe have a go yourself, just visit Nat at Threads & Bobbins.

I love to meet blogging friends! What a treat it is to actually meet what we used to call pen pals. And your hair! HA – It must be the English blood. If I let mine dry natural, I look like Mufasa from the Lion King. And advent calendar is a great way to teach giving. Such a good mom. Happy BD Mr. L-H!

I’m meeting another blogging friend next week, too, so I’m looking forward to that. It’s like you already know them so it’s lovely! My hair is fine and frizzy as well as being curly so this damp weather is a nightmare. Your comment about Mufasa made me laugh!

Funnily enough, I was just considering buying some ‘pull-ons’ or ‘lounge around pants’ for Mr. T but wasn’t sure he would bother getting changed into them even though all the females in the family do (and some barely bother getting out of them!!) . I think they are nicer to relax in of an evening than jeans.
Love the hair – one of my daughters is the same – I don’t know where she got it from as mine is as fine and straight as it comes and Mr. T’s is mostly a memory.
Happy belated birthday to Mr. H-L, I’m sure the party went well and a good time was had by all.
I can guess where you’re off to (I’m clever like that 😉 ) . We went when the girls were quite young – 4 and 5 or 6 I think they were – so they were still believers. Their little faces when they were shown in to ‘the room’ was worth having to sing cheery songs on the bus and get togged up in about 50 layers of clothing every morning,in order to sit fairly close up behind a reindeer’s butt in a sleigh or be pulled at terrifying velocity behind some speeding huskies. Great fun!! (A word to the wise – take your own alcohol).

They are so much more comfortable for lounging in than jeans that I’m sure hell be a convert, too, once he’s worn them once. Hubby even works by the fire in his some mornings! Curly, frizzy hair is a theme on my side of the family, but I’m thankful that mine is fine and not coarse like my mum and sister’s. They can’t even straighten theirs, so have always had to wear it very short.
The Boys still believe in Father Christmas although, at 9 and 11, I suspect this will be the last year. Unless this trip is so good that it reaffirms their belief!!

Wanted to thank you for last weeks post about the heirloom baby shawl very honest and the finished result was so beautiful, something money can’t buy. It has inspired me to crochet one for my grandson due in May. Mine will be a little smaller so hopefully it will be ready when he arrives!

You’re welcome and I’m thrilled that it’s inspired you to make a shawl for your grandson. You’d better start now though! Good luck😀

Snap, if you’re ever over here! I love meeting blogging pals – I’m seeing Claire (from Mollie and Claire) next Friday so am looking forward to that. The advent calendar with activities each day has been a huge hit for the last three years and they really get excited over the tiniest treats. It’s such a good way to mix ‘giving’ with ‘receiving’, too.

Have fun!
Regarding the calendar, this is exactly what my son needs! Maybe we start it in January, so he could learn a bit of gratitude early on! 😀

I know, every night without fail he snores in front of the box. I think he needs a hobby, but he won’t let me teach him how to crochet, for some reason:)

Happy birthday Mr HL, I’m sure you’ve been spoilt rotten by your lovely family! My hubby turned 50 this week too! And my hair is just like yours too when left au natural, thank goodness for babyliss and ghd! Enjoy your trip, it will be soooo magical! 😍

Thanks Ali, he was spoilt by everyone and the party was fab. That photo was of my curls brushed out for maximum frizz – I can wear it curly for one day then I have to straighten it. I didn’t know you had curly hair! We’re so excited about Lapland, and The Boys still don’t even know about it. Hope we can keep the secret until we’re on the ‘plane:)

I always thought I had bushy hair that was unruly, then one day in my 30s I put mousse on and it went curly in parts and wavy in others. Since I’ve had to colour it it’s not quite as bushy, or maybe it’s falling out? 😂

Frizz is the massive downside to curly hair – glad I made you laugh! I’ll take as many photos as is possible whilst wearing huge mittens to combat the cold, lol. I’ll check my folder for your email – I must have missed it. Hugs!
