    I must admit that your idea of fun and mine might differ a little – but it looks great on you and you have done such a brilliant job on it. I hope this is one of your makes that you will actually wear – you sound so enthusiastic about the whole thing that I can’t believe you won’t.

    WOW!!! What a process and you certainly proved your skill to yourself and us! I am terribly impressed and think it looks totally delightful. Thinking outside the box is the way to go!!

      Thank you Pauline, sometimes pushing yourself makes you fall back in love with the craft. Not that I had got bored with sewing, you understand, but dressmaking can get a bit ‘samey’ and it was nice to engage with the process again.

    That jacket is SHARP! Wow. I’d wear that thing everywhere. You did a great job on it. And like you, I enjoy pulling odd tricks out of my bag like utilizing my mad quilting skills to help with a garment project. I thought those were chess pieces at first vs. scale weights. Never seen those before. That jacket is first class my friend. Awesome. 🙂

      Thanks Becky, I can see myself throwing it on over everything. It’s not just me then; a challenging project is more absorbing and therefore more enjoyable. Mind you, mine is nothing compared to the challenges you’ve faced with your quilting machine…..

      Thanks Alys, I wasn’t joking when I said I thought The Gods were on my side – I didn’t expect it to go quite so smoothly. Mind you, I am happy to live with little imperfections and have to show them to my students if they get cross with their mistakes. It’s learning which errors can be kept and which are important to unpick and try again.

        I can tell you’re an excellent teacher in addition to being a skilled stitcher. I remember fondly a sewing teacher I had in college. I learned so much from her. I worked as an assistant pattern maker and stitcher for theatre companies for a few years after college. I worked on some gorgeous pieces. I wish I had more pictures.

    That looks fantastic! Very stylish – you have an eye for what will work with a pattern and the direction of the fabric is very well done and compliments the pattern perfectly!
