Meet Ellie, the star of this month’s blog post for the Minerva Crafts Blogger Network.
She has this rather splendid suitcase home complete with a whole wardrobe full of clothes.

O.K. – you have an elephant in your suitcase. Talk about one-upmanship! 😉
I see you used two 55cm zips – good idea. I wanted to use a double slider one but those I could find in anything other than black or white were in the U.S. and shipping was hideously expensive so I just used a long single slider one which isn’t ideal.

Hee hee, I forgot to tell you that bit, but can you imagine the surprise on Christmas Day when the little girl opens it to find an elephant inside? Wish I could be there to see her face. I don’t think it would work as well for little fingers without two zips. The design really is well thought out so very young children can play with it easily. I’m sure they’d rather open it to find a puppy inside though:)

This is absolutely adorable, Sheila, and you’ve done a gorgeous job with all the details. I see two more in your future!

Oh, I think the quilt is spoiling someone quite enough already, don’t you?!

That is quite delightful Sheila! I love the details on the little outfits and also how simple they are to make. I studied it all just dying to have a reason to make that up…. but no little children in my life sadly. And I don’t think Siddy would treat the elephant or her suitcase home with the respect she deserves. 😀 I think it took me back in time to when I was about 10 years old and made my first stuffed toy – an elephant with a wonky trunk. I adored my heffalump for many years and passed it on to my own children who eventually wore it out.

Ah, how perfect that your heffalump was literally loved to bits! I think you’re right about Soddy if our dogs are anything to go by – the stuffing would be gone in no time! I consider myself lucky to have an excuse to indulge myself in making such things.

Thank you, she was such fun to make and getting the details just so is half the enjoyment in a project like this.

Ha ha, it’s great to still have little girls to make these things for as my ‘little’ girl is 26 and a bit too old for such things!

She is super cute. Now you really and say “Ellie packed her truck” not off to the circus but definitely a nice Christmas adventure. 🙂 Well done, someone is going to be very very happy.

Hello
I was in the middle of sewing one of these when we moved house. As a result i have two pattern pieces missing: 11 and 12 – the top to go with the shorts. Is there ANY chance you could send me a scan of yours, please? I’ve made the suitcase and the elephant and I’ve cut out all of the other clothing pieces.
Thank you.
Sarah
