  1. Fifi curled up on the sofa next to a ball of wool and it struck me how tiny she looks in comparison.

3. Mr H-L carried a tired Fifi when she started lagging behind on a walk. Remember the dog carrier I made for her?E5C5A3D4-9732-4D94-B6F2-781F0825E3F5

4. We stopped for a pint on the way home just as the pub opened.0D611E84-06E0-419A-9EF0-AF8F0054E3A6

5. No.2 Son did the washing up for the first time. We’ve never had a dishwasher. He said it was fun….I wonder how long before the novelty wears off?FullSizeRender-71

6. No.1 Son bought this for me for Mother’s Day. Can you guess what it is – apart from being the perfect place to put down my G&T?IMG_3292

7. A sewing cabinet in original vintage condition!IMG_3293

8. Mr H-L and I were wandering through Salisbury’s back streets when we happened upon a piano recital about to start in a church. A rather wonderful forty minutes passed too quickly.FullSizeRender-73

9. Look at the smile on No.3 Son’s face as he jumps!

10. We went straight from their riding lesson out for a walk with the dogs and The Boys did all the usual boy stuff with sticks picked up along the way.

11. It was a bit colder so Fifi had to wear a coat to stop her shivering.

16. I forgot to take photos of the card I made for mum using free machine embroidery, so apologies for the poor quality of the ones she sent me on her iPad.

  2. What a fab week! Lots of family activities, not to mention the happy stumbled upon piano recital, I bet it sounded lovely in the old church. Love the purple pompom hat πŸ™‚

    • Oh, the recital was lovely – apart from the hard, cushion-less pews! The hat was very well received, thank goodness. Always a bit nervous after all the effort that goes into knitting gifts.

  3. What a thoughtful son you have πŸ™‚ Good to see you keeping the local pubs going with your support this week, good to take things slowly and enjoy he smaller things.

  4. Lovely week! Perfect purple pompom, fun in the pubs, son happily washing dishes, serendipitous concert, big horses, little dogs, and a most beautiful old sewing cabinet! Well done.

  7. This is awesome, such a wonderful time had by all. Loving it. Your dogs are super cute, and the boys seem to always be smiling and having fun. They grow up so fast.
Great photos of your walks and pubs. It must be great to get to visit such stunning places. Enjoy!
Most of all I love the cabinet. Unique, such a special find. Cant wait to see you using it. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks Joey, we are lucky to be able to visit such lovely places and I am careful not to take this for granted. I’m still trying to decide whether or not to paint the cabinet but one thing’s for sure, the inside is remaining original:)

      • πŸ™‚ I adore that cabinet. It is the most stunning piece I have seen in a long time. I agree, the inside is perfect just as it is.
Its always so nice to visit such lovely places. Thank you for always sharing them with us as well, I get to see so much through your eyes. πŸ™‚

  8. What a fab week! Glad to see no 2s enthusiasm for the washing up, hope it carries on. And no3 son’s face is a picture when he’s jumping! Fiji looks cosy in her carrier, and it’s good to see the weather improving for more walks. And pub stops!! Did you see my pal Shaun on your travels? I’m hoping you’ll have a selfie with him soon! πŸ˜€

    • Ha! We met Sean’s wife briefly the other day but not the man himself as yet! No doubt the novelty of the washing up will soon wear off if it hasn’t already – he hasn’t done it again since! Don’t you just love a proper pub, the old fashioned kind that hasn’t been “done up”?

  9. Wonderful week! Fancy making that piano recital ! Salisbury is such a lovely town.
My son would never do the dishwasher without lots of cajoling, the other week he was visiting me for the weekend and he spent ages cleaning my kitchen…. how time changes things

    • My daughter is far more helpful and understanding now she doesn’t live at home and has to do it all for herself, too! Happening on the piano recital at the exact time it was due to start was a wonderful coincidence and made a good day great.

  10. Lovely week. Lots of outdoors and pubs – great combination. Can’t believe how tiny Fifi is – there’s a heck of a lot more balls of wool to a golden retriever.

  11. Oh I love the sewing cabinet – do you plan to restore or allow it to shine as is – enjoy many creative hours either way.

  12. Oh I do love your doggies, especially Fifi! What a gorgeous sewing cabinet – will you leave it as is, or will you re-finish it? Looks like you had great fun out walking, and visiting the pubs πŸ˜€

  15. That card is wonderful, I keep planning to try that but never really get round to it.
You have one tiny dog, or giant ball or yarn, or both! I am going to have to try one of those bobble hats one day, but currently I’m focussing on my sewing rather than knitting.

I love that the guy doing the piano recital is using a tablet for the music, how very advanced…

    • The iPad Pro was the first thing we noticed and it even turned the pages automatically at the right time – amazing! I taught a class of four adults how to do free motion embroidery yesterday and they absolutely loved it. Do give it a go – it’s addictive.

  17. Oh wow! Love the sewing cabinet! What an amazing gift! Lots of love flowing there. πŸ™‚ I’ve never seen one like it. I’m not sure if I would paint it. How old is it anyway? Do you know?

Hubs and I prefer an old hole-in-the-wall ourselves and try to help the economy by spreading our money around like y’all do. Don’t want to leave it all in one place. ha ha Our favorites bars (pubs) are off the beaten path and don’t attract San Antonio tourists. I know I’m in the right place when the bartender has a ice cold Miller Lite in her hands with my name on it before I sit down. That, AND the beers are only $1.50 each. Beers on the San Antonio Riverwalk or at a Spurs basketball game are $8 a piece! Highway robbery! Any more than about $3.00 and I don’t spend much time there. I would love to visit those ancient pubs and I love it when you share them with us. Mother’s Day isn’t until May here. My favorite gifts are the coloring pages from my grandbabies. They are still on the fridge from last year. Great S7’s post. Thank you!

    • I know, I was thrilled when he gave it to me and think it’s about 1910 in date. He has already sanded down the outside as it really does need an uplift, but the inside is going to remain untouched. We love a good old fashioned pub here in England and it’s good to see you enjoy bars in the same way over there. That’s a huge difference in price at different places though!

  18. What a gorgeous sewing cabinet! And a lovely, thoughtful gift. Have you filled it with stuff yet? Your dogs are adorable – even if Fifi does struggle to finish her walks 😍

  19. Life looks like fun in your neck of the woods. Fifi is adorable and so are your boys.

What a clever idea to make her a bag. Does she like to be carried?

That sewing table is amazing! I’ve never seen one like it. What a terrific gift.

    • Fifi does like to be carried, but usually only after a walk has been interrupted with a drink in the pub. I think she must get a bit stiff after the lie down and appreciates a carry. Isn’t the sewing table great? It’s nearly finished now and I’m dying to use it.
