Sunday Sevens is a weekly blog series whereby you share seven photos of your week outside the blog. Invented by Nat at Threads & Bobbins, follow the link to find out more.
1. A member of the family was hosting an Open Garden at her farm. Typically, it poured down all day but didn’t spoil anyone’s enjoyment – over £1200 was raised for a local hospice!
2. A farmyard twist on planting!
3. This old GWR sign has found a new home on the door to the outside toilet.
4. I was given a posy of flowers to take home which are still brightening my mantelpiece a week later.
5. Spurred on by fellow Instagrammers, I had a clear out of my wardrobe. I decided to donate a recent make (the keyhole top from Love Sewing) due to its immodest cleavage reveal!
6. A crochet blanket was started. Just a simple granny square one this time.
7. No.3 Son was part of a team that won the Gold medal at an inter schools championship mid-week.
8. The following day, they went on to win Silver in the area finals. District finals at Millfield School are next!
9. The owners of this field very kindly mowed a wide path through the middle of the field for dog walkers. It would appear that, instead of cattle grazing, they are encouraging a wildflower meadow to grow.
10. After a midnight emergency trip to the vet, Fifi had a tumour removed and is NOT happy that she has to wear the Cone Of Shame for ten days.
11. More crochet, this time a flat flower to embellish the centre of the aforementioned blanket.
12. After being quoted £5,200 to fit out the other end of our kitchen, I sought a cheaper alternative. This solid oak dresser cost just £96 on eBay and will be painted later in the week. Sacrilege, some might say, but there is more than enough wood in our kitchen, so Bleu Clair by Autentico has been ordered to add a splash of colour.
A quieter week than last, I had chance to catch my breath and relax a bit before family came for the weekend. They’ve just begun the journey home – right in the middle of the Glastonbury traffic, so it’s anyone’s guess as to how long it will take them!

Lovely cabinet for your kitchen, Sheila, and some lovely snaps of your week. Congratulations to those star players! Sounds like Glastonbury was muddier than ever this year, and hope your family didn’t get to mired in all the other exiting. Hope you have another wonderful week ahead, with lots of feet up & crochet! xx

Thanks Del, one of our daughters went to Glastonbury but we haven’t heard how it was as yet. It’s only twenty minutes from home and it wasn’t too bad here so I assume it wasn’t too much of a mud bath for them this year. I have sewing deadlines to meet this week, so I suspect a couple of late nights are likely:)

Such a beautiful garden, so green. Mine is dying, it’s just too hot to grow much. The new cabinet for your kitchen looks good. Aw, poor Fifi, I hope she heals well and gets used to the cone. My cat had to wear one for over a month last year, it was very difficult for him.

That’s one good thing about a mild, wet climate – it’s always green and lush! Fifi is getting used to the cone, but loves it when I remove it for her to be able to eat. The look she gives me when I go to put it back on though – priceless!

awwwww poor Fifi looks sad with with her cone of shame. I hope she heals quickly. Congratulations to #3 son and the team for the wins they received. They all look happy. I would never paint the cabinet. If you did paint it ; what color would you use. If I am not mistake it your stove is red which is so awesome. Mom and I have started making Santa gifts. Lots of love to the entire family,

Thanks Robin; the dresser will be painted light blue which should go with the cream kitchen and red stove quite well. I wish I was further ahead with my Christmas makes, but I’m too busy with other commitments at the moment. Well done to you and your mum!

You’d never get ‘tyred’ of seeing that lovely garden 😉 Exciting times for your son and the team!! Oh No, poor Fifi! ~ the look in her eyes says it all ;-( Hope she recovers very soon! What a pleasure to walk through the wild flower meadow and then relax with the new crochet project..look forward to seeing the finished blanket 🙂

The little blanket is finished now – a quick project for a friend. The wildflower meadow is just beautiful but plays havoc with my hay fever! Much easier for the dogs to walk through, though, as they don’t have to negotiate the long grass.

Such a shame about the rain for the open garden. Lovely to see the dogs happily running through the path in the wild flower meadow – I seem to be unintentionally turning parts of my garden into one of those. Hope Fifi’s tumour is nothing too nasty. Give her a hug from me.

It was a mammary tumour which she’s had for years and which decided to haemorrhage at midnight! She’s fine and has even got used to the cone although she’ll be pleased to get rid of it. The wildflower meadow is lovely except that it aggravates the hay fever no end.

Doesn’t it just always happens out of surgery hours! Glad it wasn’t anything sinister and that she’s on the up. Won’t be long before the cone’s off 🙂

The cabinet is gorgeous – I want one!!
Poor Fifi – bless her little face. At least she had fun running about in the field first – I hope it’s nothing serious and she’ll be cone free soon. What a thoughtful field owner to leave the meadow for the wildlife yet keep a path mown down for walkers to enjoy.

Fifi is fine now, just has to wear the cone until the stitches are removed. The wildflower meadow is gorgeous and the path makes it enjoyable even for our tiny dogs to amble through without having to leap over the long grass.

No idea – it’s the perfect addition to our kitchen. Too much wood though, hence the paint job that’s to come:)

Thanks Ali, I’m impatient to paint the dresser now but the paint should arrive today. Fifi has got used to the cone now, but will be pleased to be rid of it on Saturday so she doesn’t scoop chicken poo up in it any more!

Love the dresser, I painted mine – once you have a solid colour the shape of the furniture really shines through! Can’t wait to see the result!
Poor little doggie – glad the op was a success.

Yes, I agree, and it’s not a valuable piece of furniture so I’m prepared to take the risk and paint it. I’m hoping the mix of cream kitchen units and lots of wooden furniture will go well with a blue dresser and red range. I’ll share photos so people can make up their own minds:)

Thanks – we were thrilled to get such a solid and well made piece of oak furniture at such a great price. And the seller was pleased that it was going to a good home. Fifi’s stitches are coming out tomorrow, so she can be rid of the cone at last.

Yes, it was such a huge amount to raise, more so because of the dreadful weather. Aren’t the tyre planters fun? Perfect for the farmyard in which they sit.

We had our wedding photos taken in that field three years ago, so it’s a spot we know and love. Dresser paint has arrived but hubby has to modify the shelves a little bit to accommodate our coffee machine, so not sure when that’s actually going to happen!

Awesome. Looking forward to it. Isn’t it amazing what new knobs or handles can do for a piece for furniture. Makes a whole new statement, specially if you are lucky to find porcelain / antique ones. 🙂
